Project’s Objectives and Outcomes

The mission of the project is through EU studies, dissemination of the information, public dialogue and discussion, to contribute to the public perception of the EU values and their embodiment into Ukrainian judicial and law enforcement practice in particular.

The objectives of the project are as follows:

  • to promote excellence in teaching and research in the sphere of EU law in general and the EU values and their legal protection in particular;
  • to improve the quality of professional lawyers training with a focus on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights;
  • to equip students, graduates, civil society organizations and the public at large with knowledge of EU law, promote understanding and perception of EU values, encourage of their enforcing in national practice;
  • to promote innovation in teaching and research, including development of open online courses and using blended learning tools.

Outcomes:

  • development of a module “Values of the European Union” for inclusion in the curriculas of law training of Bachelor’s programs;
  • improvement of the course “Values of the European Union” programme by strengthening and improving the teaching tools, by updating teaching methods, strengthening the involvement of students and increasing the transparency of the learning process both in relation to government agencies and in relation to civil society and the public at large;
  • development of Open Online Courses “Values of the European Union” on virtual platforms SSU OpenCourseWare and Examenarium for all interested persons. As of August 31, 2021, 268 people have successfully completed the Open Courses;
  • development and introduction into the educational process of the online courses “Values of the European Union” for professional training of lawyers on the SSU Distance Learning Platform (for distance learning students) and on the blended learning platform MIX.SumDU (for full-time students);
  • holding events for the academic, professional legal community and the public to spread EU values, ensure dialogue and broad debate on human rights, human dignity, equality, non-discrimination, tolerance, pluralism, solidarity, the rule of law as integral elements of Europeanization;
  • conducting scientific research, publishing its results, particularly in the format of a collective scientific monograph “Enforcement of EU values in Ukrainian legal system.
