Participation in a training on the legal and organisational framework for compensation for property damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities

On May 17-18, 2024, Mariia Plotnikova, Associate Professor of the Department and Curator of the Legal Clinic of the Institute of Law, took part in the Training “Legal Mechanisms for Obtaining Compensation for Destroyed Property”, organised by the Ukrainian Coalition for Legal Aid.

Given the significant damage and destruction of property as a result of hostilities, terrorist acts, sabotage caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the population of regions with active hostilities needs legal assistance. The Sumy State University Legal Clinic, as a specialised legal clinic on war-related issues, provides legal advice to citizens, including on obtaining compensation for destroyed property.

Participation in the training enabled the exchange of experience with attorneys and lawyers from all over Ukraine on the practical problems of compensation for war-damaged and destroyed real estate, algorithms of actions, conditions and procedures for its provision.
