The course “Values of European Union” in the framework of the educational project “600115-EPP-1-2018-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE “Enforcement of European Union Values in Ukraine,” with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), Module Jean Monet Program Erasmus Programme+ was developed and implemented into educational process in Sumy State University.

 

The objective of the course “Values of the European Union” is to provide knowledge and understanding of EU values, mechanisms for their implementation and protection, and prospects for implementing in Ukraine under the provisions of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

In addition, the course aims to develop skills of value-oriented law enforcement, the development of civic activism, tolerance, respect for human dignity, and human rights.

The project team developed two versions of the training course. The first one is an elective course for students majoring in Law and International Law (syllabus for specialty 081 “Law”syllabus for students of specialty 293 “International Law”). It is aimed at developing professional competencies, primarily in the field of value-oriented law enforcement. The second version is adapted for students of other specialties (syllabus). It is focused on disseminating knowledge about the EU, its values, the formation of the civic position of future professionals in various fields.

As an elective course, “Values of the EU” is also offered to distance learning students majoring in “Law” (access requires authorization). Course materials and a set of methodical recommendations for blended learning and independent work of students, especially during quarantine restrictions, are used on the platform of MIX_SMSU (access requires authorization).

In addition, the adapted course “EU Values” is available to the general audience on the online resources of SSU in Ukrainian and Russian.
