From March to May 2026, a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) program was implemented between the Academic and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University and California State University, Stanislaus (USA).
The course “Argumentation in Human Rights” was jointly taught by Associate Professor of the Department of International, European and Comparative Law of Sumy State University, Anna Slavko, and Professor of the College of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at California State University, Stanislaus, Karen Zandarski.
More than 70 students from the two universities participated in the course. As part of the collaboration, they developed advocacy campaigns dedicated to various aspects of non-discrimination. The two-month course included introductory activities, group work on case studies, and step-by-step advocacy aimed at protecting vulnerable groups through the use of legal and media tools.
We thank the students for their active participation and hope that this experience will be valuable for them!
