From 4 to 28 December in the framework of the educational project “600115-EPP-1-2018-1-EN-EPPJMO-MODULE Implementation of European Union values in Ukraine”, Erasmus + Jean Monnet program with the support of the European Union Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual The Memorandum Tournament “Tolerance, Human Dignity and Non-Discrimination as EU Values” was held.
Teams of students and pupils of senior classes of educational institutions from Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Poltava, Zakarpattia regions took part in the Tournament. The main purpose of the event was to foster respect for human dignity and to test future lawyers’ mechanisms provided by Ukrainian law to protect individuals from discrimination.
The judges of the tournament were well-known professional lawyers:
- Anatoliy Chernyavsky (Chairman of the Jury) – Chief Specialist-Legal Adviser of the Legal Department of the Department of Case Management and Legal Support of the Cherkasy City Council, Ph.D in Іnternational Law;
- Olena Osipova – Judge of the Sumy District Administrative Court;
- Tetyana Startseva –lawyer of Deshunin & Partners LLC (Kyiv).
On December 28, the online final event of the Tournament took place, where its results were announced, and on behalf of the jury, Olena Osipova voiced the impressions of the teams’ memoranda.
According to the evaluation results, the winners were:
• in the nomination “Best Pupil’s Memorandum” – the team “Youth for Democracy” Hlybokabalkivsky Educational Complex and the team “Unity” Sumy institution of secondary education I-III degrees №21 Sumy City Council (first degree diplomas)
• in the nomination “Best Student’s Memorandum” – the team “Special Opinion” of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs (first degree diploma); “Pravolyuby” Uzhhorod National University named after Yuri Fedkovych, “Legal Clinic “Trust” Sumy National Agrarian University (diplomas of the second degree); the “Ukrainka” team of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs and the “Guardians of Equality” of Sumy State University (third-degree diplomas).
The winners received diplomas and certificates for the purchase of books in one of the leading publishing houses in Ukraine.
