On May 6, 2023, the webinar “Rights of IDPs. The status of persons needing temporary protection in the EU”. The event was part of the online school “EU Migration Law”, which is implemented in the framework of the educational project with a scientific component 101098859-EU4Migration-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH-UA-IBA / ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH -RSCH “The EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” (Jean Monet Module of the Erasmus+ program).
The invited expert of the event was Volodymyr Bilokha, senior lawyer of the Poltava interregional office of the Right to Defense Charitable Foundation. He spoke about the main challenges the foundation’s lawyers faced when assisting IDPs and legislative amendments related to compensation for damage caused by Russian aggression.
The second part of the webinar deals with the legal status of persons in need of temporary protection in the EU. Based on EU legislation and law enforcement practice, the results of the first year of implementation of the temporary protection mechanism, its advantages for Ukrainians and the main challenges faced by Ukrainian migrants in the EU were analyzed.
