On October 21, 2022, the presentation of the educational projects “European standards for the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services” and “The EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” took place. Both projects are financed by the European Union and implemented at the Academic and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University. The event brought together students, representatives of NGOs, researchers of migration processes and protection of the rights of consumers of financial services and other interested parties.
The coordinator of the project “European standards for the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services”, Olha Shvaher shared the results of the implementation of the project activities during two years. The project team completed two round tables on protecting the rights of consumers of financial services, two pieces of training for representatives of legal clinics and three presentation events. In addition, the project provides for teaching the discipline of the same name for masters in the speciality 081 “Law”. Currently, the subject “European standards for the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services” is also taught for bachelors of the speciality 293 “International Law” in English.
As was said by Anna Slavko, the educational project “The EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” was formed as a response to the challenges Ukraine faced as a result of the full-scale invasion. Its purpose is to study the experience of the countries of the European Union in supporting refugees, internally displaced persons, persons in need of additional protection and other categories of persons who were forced to leave their permanent residence.
As part of the implementation of the project (2022-2025), three types of activities are planned:
• Development and teaching of the course “The EU Migration Policy and Law”;
• Scientific studies of approximation of migration legislation of Ukraine to EU law;
• Dissemination of information about the rights and responsibilities of forced migrants through round tables, debates, presentation events, etc.

PhD in Law, associate professor of the department of administrative, economic Law and financial and economic security of Sumy State University, head of the legal clinic of Sumy State University Liudmyla Rudenko with the report “Key issues of protecting the rights of consumers of financial services during martial law” and
Nataliya Yesina, representative of the NGO “Northern Human Rights Group”, with a report “Actual issues of protecting the rights of migrants and IDPs during martial law”.
