Victory in the All-Ukrainian Student Research Competition

Students of the International Law program at Sumy State University once again took part in the All-Ukrainian Student Research Competition named after M. P. ORZIKH “The Human Dimension of Law”, held at the National University “Odesa Law Academy.”

This year, three students were selected to participate in the second round: Maria KULISH and Daria POLISHCHUK (supervised by Associate Professor Anna SLAVKO) and Nikita KOVALENKO (supervised by Head of the Department of International, European and Environmental Law Vladyslava ZAVHORODNIA). Our students represented SumDU with dignity, competing with law students from leading Ukrainian universities – Kharkiv, Lviv, and Kyiv.

As a result of the competition, second-year bachelor’s student Nikita KOVALENKO won second place. His research paper titled “Ensuring the Rights of Victims of Armed Conflicts through the Instruments of Documenting War Crimes: A Comparative Legal Analysis” addresses one of the most pressing issues in international law. In his study, Nikita identified key problems in existing approaches and, through comparative legal analysis of various documentation models, developed a comprehensive mechanism to improve Ukraine’s legal framework in this field.

We sincerely congratulate our students and their academic supervisors on this outstanding achievement and wish them inexhaustible inspiration and further scientific success!
