The application of Sumy State University has been approved by the European Commission to participate in the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project.
In autumn 2024, the project ‘Access to justice: best EU practices for Ukraine (101175484)’ will be launched.
The EUJustice4U project addresses important issues of access to justice in the EU and the implementation of EU standards in Ukrainian legislation.
The objectives of the project:
- to promote excellence in teaching and improve the quality of professional training of SSU bachelor students majoring in law, international law.
- to facilitate education in the field of European studies during the war and post-war reconstruction, involving students and others whose educational opportunities have been affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine (including those who have been forced to leave their homes and study and those remaining in areas close to hostilities and/or occupation, and post-occupation territories).
- to promote excellence in research, generate knowledge and insights in support of EU policy-making, raise awareness of EU best practices for Ukraine on Access to Justice; to actualize the discussion of these issues in the academic world, representatives of public administration, and civil society.
- to reach out to a wider public and spread knowledge about the EU to the wider society (beyond academia and specialised audiences) bringing the EU closer to the public.
The project is important in view of Ukraine’s European integration processes, the need to address existing and future problems of access to justice in connection with Russian aggression, and the need to use EU experience in building a transitional justice system.
