Expected impact of the project
The educational module “European Standards for the Protection of Consumers of Financial Services” aims to disseminate information to students, graduate students, professors, practitioners in the field of law, as well as all other interested persons about the current European legislation in the field of protection of the rights of financial services consumers, as well as Dissemination of the experience of exemplary application of the knowledge gained from studying the course. Considering the specifics of the financial services industry, we consider it advisable to disseminate information among the target audience about the existing instruments of protection of the violated rights of consumers of financial services directly by providing educational services to students of specialties “Law” and “International Law” of SSU, conducting educational events for students and teaching activities for students educational institutions from Sumy region and Ukraine, publication and distribution of educational materials.
Involvement of students and teachers of SSU and other higher education institutions, law specialists, legal clinic consultants in the planned activities is a prerequisite for the promotion of the idea of pedagogical innovations, strengthening the professional skills and competencies of legal professionals, as well as the formation of the legal consciousness among other respondents.
Expanding the experience of applying the knowledge gained during counselling in a law clinic will increase the opportunities for socially vulnerable sections of the population seeking free legal assistance to protect violated rights and interests in the field of obtaining insurance or banking services and other financial services.
Therefore, we believe that the implementation of the educational module will be aimed at the following target groups:
– Law students (bachelors);
– Teachers of higher education institutions and other members of the educational community who are interested in the topic of the module;
– Curators, coordinators, consultants of legal clinics;
– Other members of civil society.
In the process of implementation of the planned measures within the educational module it is proposed to involve experts, civil servants and practicing lawyers in the field of protection of the rights of consumers of financial services.
Considering the target audience of the project, we believe that the module will not only fulfil the educational function, but also allow achieving the following program results:
For students: better employability and improved career prospects for graduates through the inclusion and strengthening of the European dimension in Law and International Law education programs; increasing interest in the European Union, seeking to understand the course of reforms and participate in them, leading to more active citizenship;
For teachers and other academics: greater capacity to teach and research on EU issues: improve and innovate educational programs by developing and incorporating a new specialized course on European standards for the protection of consumers of financial services; involvement of students in the work of the SSU Law Clinic in order to develop practical skills in advising them on the protection of consumers of financial services; enhancing the professional development of teachers and young researchers in the field of European integration;
For curators, coordinators, consultants of law clinics: strengthened cooperation with partners of the network of law clinics at regional and national levels; dissemination of experience to integrate practice-oriented teaching methods into the training of specialists in the field of law, taking into account the European integration vector;
For the other members of civil society: increasing interest in the EU and reforms taking place in the European integration process, engaging in public dialogue.
