The Jean Monnet Chair EU Standards on Freedom of Expression and Information (101127062 EUMediaFree) invites students, academics, journalists, bloggers, civic activists, and all interested persons to join the Workshop “State Media Policy: Freedom of Expression and Protection of Journalists’ Rights through the Lens of Martial Law Challenges.”
An expert conversation about one of today’s hottest topics awaits you. How does Ukraine implement European standards on freedom of expression and information? What is the role of journalists in conditions of full-scale war? What restrictions on journalistic activity during the martial law regime are permissible, and which ones promote corruption and lead to authoritarianism? Why have the cases of persecution of media workers become more frequent? Does international humanitarian law fulfill the function of protecting the rights of journalists?
If you have your own questions for the experts, indicate them in the registration form or ask them during the event.
