On November 1, 2019, the Round Table “European Values for a New Ukrainian School” was held at Zaporizhzhia National University. The event was initiated by a team of Jean Monnet Program EUVOLIA (European Values in Literary Arts) 599918-ERP-1-2018-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE. The co-organizers of the Round Table were the Jean Monnet Projects “Pan-European Convergence of Legal, Economic and Cultural Foundations of Corruption Prevention” and “European Project Culture”, Society of History and Culture Researchers of Central and Eastern Europe in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian Association of Teachers and Researchers of European Integration and Ukrainian Shakespeare Center.
Main topics of event were:
· European values: myths and facts;
· European VS «traditional» values: conflict or cooperation?
· «Me» and «The Other»: European values and crosscultural communication issues;
· Interdisciplinary approach to European values: historical and legal background;
· European values at school: teaching values or sharing values?
Project Coordinator 600115-EPP-1-2018-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE “Implementation of European Union Values in Ukraine” Vladyslava Zavgorodnya and project implementer Anna Slavko also participated in the event. As a result of the Round Table discussions, recommendations for implementation of European Values in education were made. The participants of the event received certificates.
