Presentation of the Project “EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” in 2024

On November 21, 2024, a presentation of the Jean Monnet projects “EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” (Jean Monnet Module), “Access to justice: best EU practices for Ukraine ” (Jean Monnet Module), and “EU Standards on freedom of expression and information” (Jean Monnet Chair) took place.

Over 180 participants registered for the event and were representatives of academia, the public sector, and students.

During the event, Anna Slavko, the thematic coordinator of the project “EU Migration Policy and Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals,” shared the results of the project’s implementation over the past two years. These included:

  • Hosting two online schools on EU migration law,
  • Organizing two workshops for forced migrants,
  • Conducting two conferences dedicated to the specifics of EU migration law and policy,
  • Developing and teaching the elective course “EU Migration Law and Policy: History and Modernity” for SumDU students.

The event featured guest lecturer Alyona Rudyk, a senior lawyer at the “Right to Protection” Charitable Foundation, who spoke about protecting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Sumy region. She highlighted the challenges faced by human rights defenders in such cases and shared “success stories” where the desired outcomes were achieved.

We thank all participants for their interest in our project and invite everyone to join our future activities!
