On May 11, 2024, a webinar “Rights of IDPs. The Status of Persons in Need of Temporary Protection in the EU” was held. This event was part of the online school “EU Migration Law,” implemented within the educational project with a scientific component 101098859-EU4Migration-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH-UA-IBA / ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH “Migration Policy and EU Law in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals” under the Jean Monnet program of Erasmus+.
The invited lecturers were Rostyslav Nepyyipa, Senior on protection monitoring on IDP Situations at the “Right to Protection” Charity Foundation, and Lyudmyla Rudenko, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor, and Secretary of the Council on IDP Issues at the Sumy Regional State Administration. The discussion with them focused on the assistance provided by NGOs to internally displaced persons and the specifics of integrating IDPs into host communities through IDP Councils. The experts discussed the challenges faced by IDPs from the “first” and “second” waves and shared success stories.
The second part of the webinar was dedicated to the legal status of persons in need of temporary protection in the EU.
