First-year students study English with a professor at the College of New Jersey

October 30, 2022

Since October 2022, the Department of Foreign Languages of Sumy State University has been implementing a grant under the “Virtual English Language Educator Program (Ukraine).” with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine. Within this project’s framework, the College of New Jersey professor, Dr. Stuart Carroll, joined the teaching of English to 1st-year students majoring in International Law. The Bachelor International Law educational program involves intensive foreign language training, so out of 6 classroom hours per week, 2 hours are spent by our students working with Dr. Carroll. In addition to his distinguished experience in teaching English (for bachelor’s and master’s in the USA, Venezuela, Israel, Bolivia, Kuwait, Taiwan, Egypt, Thailand, and Spain), Dr. Carroll also has a Degree in Law (diploma of the University of Manitoba, USA). This fact makes international training experience especially useful for future international lawyers. The American professor uses several new and exciting teaching methods. So, already in November 2022, students will try to interview virtually their colleagues at the College of New Jersey.

We express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Stuart Carroll, the US Embassy in Ukraine, the Department of Foreign Languages of Sumy State University, and personally to Associate Professor Iryna Liashenko for the unique opportunity given to our students!
