International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Value-based Approach in Education and Challenges of European Integration Process”

On May 29-30, 2020, Sumy State University hosted the International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Value-based Approach in Education and Challenges of European Integration Process”. This event was organized within the framework of the educational project “600115-EPP-1-2018-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE Enforcement of European Union values in Ukraine”, co-founded by the EU Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture under the Jean Module Program Erasmus +. The co-organizers of the event were the Jean Monnet Project «European Values in Literary Arts»  and Ukrainian Association of Professors and Researchers of European Integration (APREI)

The conference was attended by experts from Sumy State University and representatives of the University of Foggia (Italy), ISG University (Portugal), Jagiellonian University (Poland), I.F. Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Aviation University, NAPA under the President of Ukraine, European University and many other educational institutions. The participants’ reports mainly concerned axiological Dimension of the European Higher Educational Area, the Solidarity and Divided Societies, EU Values and Sustainable Development. The event also included a workshop “Innovative Methods of Value-based Competency Development in Secondary and Higher Education”, during which the project “Implementation of European Union values in Ukraine” executors Vladislava Zavgorodnya and Anna Slavko shared their experience in implementing a value-based approach to learning.

The event, despite being held remotely, became a convenient platform for communication between representatives of various educational institutions in Europe. Based on the results of a productive discussion and exchange of experiences, a collection of abstracts of participants’ reports will be published.
