Online meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia

Students majoring in International Law Andriy Kasyan, Milana Stepka and Diana Yahichenko are participationg in the Virtual Academic Mobility Program at the University of Latvia with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. The program provides not only an intensive course in European studies of 24 credits, but also meetings with experts and practitioners in the field of European integration, International Law, and International Relations.

On November 2, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia Oleksandr Mischenko met with the students of the program. During the meeting, he discussed with young people Ukraine’s prospects for EU and NATO membership, noted the positive changes in the Ukrainian state on its path to European integration, which also occurred through the use of European experience, including Latvia’s experience in European integration.

The ambassador told the students in detail about the current state of Ukrainian-Latvian relations, about Latvia’s constant support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression at all levels.

During the conversation with the youth, Mr. Olexandr Mischenko also noted the fact that Latvia became the first country at the parliamentary level to recognize the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944 as genocide.

In addition, the Ambassador of Ukraine stressed the significant interest of the state in young qualified professionals in areas important to society, in particular in the context of European integration aspirations of our state.
