On March 30, 2023, a guest lecture-discussion by Serhii Movchan, head of the Documentation Department of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights, was held for students of the Law Institute of Sumy State University with the assistance of the Law Clinic of Sumy State University. The lecture on the topic “International crimes – the realities of the Ukrainian present” discussed the concept and classification of war crimes, issues of their documentation, and problems of qualification under international humanitarian and national law norms. Particular aspects of the coverage of the facts of war crimes in mass media were also the subject of discussion.
The event was attended by students majoring in International Law, Law, and History, as well as teachers of the Department of International, European, and Comparative Law, the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, and the Department of History.
