Results of the conference “Value-oriented approach in education and the challenges of European integration”

Sumy State University hosted the II International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Value-oriented approach in education and the challenges of European integration”, which became the final event of the educational project “Enforcement of European Union Values in Ukraine” (2018-2021)

On May 28-29, 2021, Sumy State University hosted the II International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Value-based Approach in Education and Challenges of European Integration Process”. The event was organized by the educational project “600115-EPP-1-2018-1-EN-EPPJMO-MODULE Enforcement of European Union Values in Ukraine” with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (Erasmus+ Programme, Jean Monnet Module). The event was co-organized by the educational projects “European standards for protection of rights of consumers of financial services” (Sumy State University) and “European Values in Literary Arts” (Zaporizhzhya National University), Jean Monnet Chair in EU Economic Policies and Civil Society, Taraclia Grigori Tsamblack State University (Republic of Moldova) and Cherkas Global University (USA).

The conference was attended by experts from Sumy State University, the University of Foggia (Italy), Krakow Pedagogical University (Poland), Brusov State University (Armenia), University of Valencia (Spain), Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, the National University of Water Management and Nature Management, Poltava National Pedagogical University and many other educational institutions. Representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Northern Macedonia, the Zaporizhia Regional Center for Cultural Development “Parnassus”, the Center for Regional Security and the Office of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine also joined the conference. The participants’ reports mainly concerned the axiological Dimension of the European Higher Educational Area, the Solidarity and Divided Societies, EU Values and Sustainable Development. The event also included a workshop “Innovative Methods of Value-based Competency Development in Secondary and Higher Education”, during which the project “Enforcement of European Union Values in Ukraine” executor Anna Slavko shared her experience in implementing a value-based approach to learning.

Despite being held remotely, the event became a convenient platform for communication between representatives of various educational institutions in Europe. Based on the results of a productive discussion and exchange of experiences, a collection of abstracts of participants’ reports will be published (download file).
